World Cup FANFEST in Cape Town

We are nearly there…. all the stomach ulcers and the sleepless nights are now finally going to be justified.

THE WORLD CUP 2010 IS BEGINNING!!!
Hang on to your hats people its going to be a wild ride!

Look at the size of this Vuvuzela…. if they blow this thing we are all going to be totally deaf and have soiled underwear.

The biggest Vuvuzela in the world.....

Here is some pictures of the doings and the brewings that is currently happening on the Grand Parade in Cape Town. This will be the area that will be hosting the biggest FANFEST in this beautiful city of ours.

Access to the FANFEST is free – but those that need to sit down must pay to park their butts down on these stands…

Building the stands

I was told yesterday by the Coca Cola organizers that their tent is supposed to be a bottle top… they sure as hell didn’t like it when I said that the damn thing looked like a giant toadstool and all it needed was garden gnomes…

Coca Cola dome....

Only the truly blind will miss seeing the matches… of course it goes without saying that the blind drunks will have the same problem.

Big Screen for the masses

Being a true Capetonian – I’m VERY glad to see that they are erecting tents up all over the place because when it rains here – it will flood everybody and their big screens out into Table Bay harbour… Hope the boats are standing by…. 🙂

Tents are jumping up everywhere

Of course it goes without saying that we all (being typical Techies) tried to steal the wonderful toys standing around all over the place… *sigh*

TOYS!

Now lets go and have some fun!!!!

That looks great!! Oo I’m so excited I can dance on the highway, lol…

  2. Supa says:

I think they should get Julius to blow that Vuvuzela……he’s got a big mouth! 🙂

    • Lyndatjie says:

Hey – that’s right! He’s also the biggest *rshole in the world – so we can attach another one at the back. You’re a genius! 🙂

  3. cindy says:

You’re right, it looks nothing like a bottle top.
The vuvuzelas are being blown non-stop here, poor Lulubelle is a wreck.

    • Lyndatjie says:

Thank you! They were deeply affronted when I asked them if they were all Gnomes…
Oh poor Lulubelle… you better get some rescue remedy for her because its just going to get worse and worse… :*(

  4. granny1947 says:

I see you are getting into the spirit of the thing.
    Lol@supa.

  5. At last – they have found something to do with thoe odd highways that end up in the air. Cape Town really is the oddest city 😉

    • Lyndatjie says:

Heeeeyyyy…. we odd people resemble that remark!
We have grown attached to that bridge – just look at how useful it is right now. I was once a party to the filming of an add on that bridge and I hung upside down at the end of it and spray painted my name on it. Unfortunately some bright idiot from the council then went and sprayed the damn thing black. gggrrrr…

  6. Adeeyoyo says:

@Sidey, I thought they were erected for that ad where the car reverses all the way to CT!

I agree, nothing at all like a coke bottle top!

    • Lyndatjie says:

Oh yes – another one that agrees… I don’t think Coca Cola wants me back into their tent again because I kept on asking everybody what their gnome names are… Idiots don’t have a sense of humour!

  7. New Attitude says:

Lyndatjie it looks like the classic mushroom from Mario bros. Thanks for sharing all the pics with us…:-)

  8. Nice pics, glad to have found you here.

  9. halfp1nt says:

Lol, we spotted two of the mushrooms from waaay across the beach today, and even with a pair of binoculars, couldn’t quite make out what they were supposed to be. All we could make out was the Coke logo.
When you have a minute, have a look at the cartoon another day in paradise posted today – you’ll love it and most appropriate for the giant vuvuzela 🙂
